Dr. Brett Osborn was quoted as an expert source in a recent Fox News article about Ozempic and Wegovy being used to treat kidney disease. The article explains that taking Ozempic can help prevent the risk of kidney failure and the risk of death among people who suffer from chronic kidney disease and type 2 diabetes.
According to Dr. Osborn, a neurosurgeon and longevity medicine expert at Senolytix located in West Palm Beach, Florida, patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease are at a significant risk for kidney failure, cardiovascular events and death.
The study, funded by Novo Nordisk and published in The New England Journal of Medicine, included over 3,500 people who suffer from type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease from 28 countries. In this study each person was given 1.0 mg of semaglutide per week.
As Dr. Osborn states, “Semaglutide works by improving glycemic control, which is crucial in mitigating diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease). Overall, semaglutide offers substantial renal and cardiovascular protection for patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease."
